PARADISE HAVEN — Unusual blue-lit doorways have begun appearing across the island following the return of Rust's annual Halloween event. These openings lead into underground environments far removed from the surrounding landscape, raising familiar questions about their origins and the organization whose name has appeared in earlier accounts of the phenomenon.

That organization is Cobalt.

While Paradise Haven investigators remain focused on the ongoing Project Eden investigation, the return of the rifts has brought an older Cobalt-related mystery back into discussion: a rumored experiment identified only as R.U.I.N.

No evidence currently establishes a connection between R.U.I.N. and Project Eden. Nevertheless, the history surrounding these portals deserves a closer examination.

DOORWAYS THAT SHOULDN'T EXIST

The rifts are unlike conventional entrances found throughout the island.

They appear as freestanding doorways surrounded by an intense blue glow, offering passage into enclosed underground spaces. Previous encounters with these environments have involved hostile inhabitants, narrow passages, and supply containers.

Recent photographs captured on LOST PARADISE show one of the glowing entrances standing among dead trees near the coastline. Beyond it, an underground chamber contains timber supports, exposed rock, a burning barrel, and a supply crate.

The photographs establish the presence and appearance of the phenomenon. They do not establish who created it or why.

THE R.U.I.N. RUMOR

The origins of the rifts have been disputed for years.

Historical accounts describe two competing explanations. One attributes the openings to cultists performing unexplained activities across the island. The other suggests that Cobalt was responsible through an experimental undertaking reportedly designated R.U.I.N.

The designation appeared in official Rust Halloween reporting as early as 2022 and resurfaced in subsequent accounts. Those reports associated the portals with Cobalt but did not provide a technical explanation of how the openings operated or establish the complete history of the alleged program.

The distinction is important.

R.U.I.N. remains a historical lead—not a verified discovery within Paradise Haven's ongoing investigation.

No recovered Project Eden document currently identifies R.U.I.N., references the portal system, or establishes a relationship between the two.

Until evidence changes that assessment, investigators are treating the rifts as a separate matter.

INSIDE THE RIFT

The underground environments offer little immediate explanation for their existence.

Rock formations, constructed timber supports, artificial lighting, and containers suggest spaces intended to be entered and explored. However, none of those features independently identifies the individual or organization responsible.

The chamber photographed on LOST PARADISE contains a burning barrel and a supply crate positioned between rock walls and supporting beams.

Whether these structures were assembled for storage, shelter, or some other purpose remains undetermined.

Historical descriptions warn of dangerous inhabitants within the rift environments. Islanders choosing to enter should be prepared for hostile encounters and uncertain conditions.

ANOTHER COBALT MYSTERY, BUT NOT ANOTHER EDEN DISCOVERY

The timing of the rifts' return comes during an active investigation into Cobalt's operations.

Paradise Haven has already documented troubling records connected to Project Eden, including the denial of E-17 evacuation requests, redirected civilian transfers, eleven documented containment casualties, and unexplained movements of personnel and materials.

The investigation has also identified Shipment M-04 and sealed Eden cargo passing through Cobalt's industrial network.

Those findings belong to an established evidence trail.

The rifts do not.

Although both subjects involve historical references to Cobalt, the presence of a shared organization is insufficient to establish that the programs were related.

Investigators have found no recovered orders, shipment records, personnel assignments, or facility documentation connecting Project Eden to the alleged R.U.I.N. experiment.

Drawing that conclusion now would risk confusing an unverified rumor with documented evidence.

For the moment, the two investigations remain separate.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The return of the Halloween rifts gives Islanders an opportunity to examine a mystery that predates the current Project Eden discoveries.

Paradise Haven encourages exploration and documentation of unusual activity, particularly information that may help identify the origin or purpose of the underground environments.

However, the investigation will not assign responsibility to Cobalt—or establish a link to Project Eden—without supporting evidence.

The Halloween event is expected to continue into early November, with November 5 marking the anticipated end of the seasonal period.

For now, the entrances are open, the historical accounts remain disputed, and the questions surrounding R.U.I.N. are unanswered.

Some mysteries begin with recovered documents.

Others begin with a door.

Paradise forgets. The Islanders remember.
