CYCLE 01: COBALT DOWN | A GUIDE FOR ISLANDERS
If you've been exploring LOST PARADISE, you've probably come across some places that don't seem to belong on an ordinary Rust island. Abandoned Cobalt facilities, unusual records, infected areas, and locations with histories that aren't immediately obvious.
There's a reason for that.
We've been building an ongoing story into the server, and we wanted to explain how it works so everyone has a chance to get involved.
THE ISLAND HAS A HISTORY
Before everything fell apart, LOST PARADISE was a tropical destination. Resorts, businesses, and communities were part of everyday life here.
Then things changed.
Cobalt became involved in operations across the island, and somewhere along the way, a classified program known as Project Eden became part of that history.
What happened, who was involved, and how much of it Cobalt managed to hide are questions we're gradually exploring through the storyline.
We're not going to hand everyone the answers in a single article.
We want you to discover them.
HOW THE STORY WORKS
Instead of putting the entire story on a webpage, we're connecting it to locations you can actually visit.
As you explore, you may come across documents, records, names, and references that connect one location to another.
Some discoveries will make sense immediately. Others might not mean much until you find something elsewhere.
Pay attention to what you find. A document that looks unimportant today might explain something you run across later.
And you don't have to follow a specific order.
PROJECT EDEN — FOUR LOCATIONS TO INVESTIGATE
Our current storyline, Cycle 01: COBALT DOWN, includes four connected Project Eden locations:
Quarantine Sanctuary
Eden Medical Facility
Eden Burial Vault
Cobalt Sawmill
Each location holds a different part of the investigation.
The recently introduced Cobalt Sawmill adds another piece to the story, connecting the island's industrial operations to the questions surrounding Project Eden.
You can begin at any of these locations. Explore them, look for evidence, and see what connections you can make.
We won't be posting a complete walkthrough or telling everyone exactly where to find every clue. That would take away the fun of discovering it yourself.
WHAT ABOUT PARADISE DISPATCH?
Our Paradise Dispatch news articles are another part of the experience.
Think of them as reports coming out of Paradise Haven. They cover developments across the island, new discoveries, and information that connects to the larger story.
The articles help explain what's happening, but they won't always tell you everything.
The news tells you what's being uncovered. Exploring the island helps you understand why it matters.
You can follow the reports here:
You can also read more about the island's background on our Story page.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE?
Absolutely not.
LOST PARADISE is still a PvE Rust server. Build your base, run raids, fight bosses, join events, collect loot, or just hang out with friends.
The storyline is something extra for players who enjoy exploration and mysteries.
And as future Cycles unfold, the island's story will continue developing.
LET'S HEAR YOUR THEORIES
If you discover something interesting, recognize a connection, or have a theory about Cobalt and Project Eden, we'd like to hear it.
Start a discussion here in the forums or talk with other Islanders in our Discord.
Just be considerate of players who haven't discovered everything yet. A little spoiler warning goes a long way.
We're putting a lot of work into making these locations feel like they belong to the same world, rather than just being another place to grab loot.
There's more to LOST PARADISE than what's marked on the map.
We'll leave the investigating to you.
